〜つもり — “intend to / plan to”

Personal intention: 来年、日本に行くつもりです

Plain form + つもり states a firm personal intention — stronger and more considered than 〜たい (want). 大学に行くつもりです (I intend to go to university). Negative: 行かないつもり (intend not to) or the softer つもりはない (have no intention).

How to form it

Watch out

つもり is a subjective plan, so it's odd for things outside your control (you can't 「晴れるつもり」— the weather has no intentions). For scheduled arrangements, 予定 (よてい) is the more neutral word.
