に基づいて — “based on”

Says a decision, plan, or work is grounded in a specific source of facts or rules

Noun + に基づいて states that something is built or decided on the foundation of a specific source — data, a rule, an experience — “based on X, …”. It's formal/written, common in reports, research, and legal or official contexts.

How to form it

Watch out

に基づいて needs a concrete source (data, facts, a rule) behind it — for a vaguer “from” or “out of” a feeling or motive, から or ため is more natural.
